The Galgos from Spain for homing in the UK

Galgos (breed name galgo español) are Spanish bred greyhounds used widely by hunters in the rural areas of Spain, for coursing the hare with betting but the season is only 4 months after which time they are abandoned or brutally killed. Many have not been handled kindly, some have suffered victimisation in overcrowded shelters in Spain, making them wary of other dogs, and some need gentle socialisation and a lot of reassurance that they are never going to be hungry or hurt again. They were rescued in the first place by volunteers who themselves suffer the hostility of their own countrymen for showing such concern and care.

All are sterilised, micro chipped and have been tested and found clear of Mediterranean diseases before they come to the UK. Ages are mostly approximate.

They can be visited during their 6 month quarantine period in their kennels in Gloucestershire, by prior arrangement with Pat, our Homing Officer (contact details below).

We will know more about their characters later as they relax and develop.

Pat will then get in touch with you to chat more with you and arrange a home visit and try to match the right dog to the right home.

	Canuto, a 2 year old dark brindle male galgo rescued in Almendralejo. He is a little timid but is fine with other dogs. RESERVED
	Aurelio, a 4 year old male galgo. He is brindle with some white markings. He was rescued in Almendralejo. He is friendly and docile. RESERVED
	Hercules is a 4 year old male galgo from RECAL in Almendralejo. He is black with some white markings. He is very friendly and gets on with other dogs. RESERVED
	Casilda, a 2 year old, brindle female galga from RECAL, Almendralejo. She is very friendly. RESERVED
	Anita, a 4 year old white female galga, she is a little frightened. She was rescued by Mada of the RECAL refuge in Almendralejo. RESERVED
	Musa, a very sweet female galga, with long hair, approx. 3 years old. She is very nice and friendly and was rescued by Cristina of Galgos sin Fronteras, Madrid. RESERVED
