An Invite from
Italy!
Elisa, Chiara,
Emilia, and Dario of the Greyhound Adopt Centre, Italy, here
inform everyone of their 4th Annual Reunion of their rescued
galgos, greyhounds and lurchers, on
Saturday June 2nd, in Modena from 10.00am......all
day.....
Having attended
these events in previous years, I can assure you of how
spectacular and moving it is to see so many hundreds of dogs
arriving with their proud owners at this venue, from
mostly the mid and northern towns and cities of Italy .....
As some of you know,
it was with the collapse of the Rome track in 2002 that we
came to meet Elisa and Chiara who were then just
beginning to find adoption homes for ex-racing
greyhounds.....when suddenly they were landed with 370
all at once ! Despite their youth, we were full of admiration,
as I still am, of how seriously and competently
they handled that hugely demanding and stressful
task.......Little did they know then, (I'm sure they
would then not have entertained even the thought of
it!)......that their rescue work would indeed go on to
grow to the huge proportions it has today, by generously
receiving rescued greys and galgos from Spain plus greys and
lurchers directly from Ireland. GIN takes less of an
active role these days in those transportations, except
for funding the veterinary preparation of the dogs at Arca de
Noe refuge in Albacete before they leave, plus some
transport costs where needed. Our dear friend,
Balbino Cerro from Arca de Noe, will be attending!
Modena is in the
north; city of balsamic vinegar and Pavarotti. Nearest
airport is Bologna, about 45 -60 mins by train to Modena,
costing only about 3 euros. If you have the opportunity to
go.....I promise you would not regret it !
