The Story of Teresa…..

As regular visitors to our website know we take many dogs from RECAL in Almendralejo, thanks to Mada who organises primary testing, vaccinations etc for us.  Recently Mada wrote asking for help with a female galga who had been brought to her shelter.

This poor galga was seen roaming with a piece of rope hanging from her neck.  Two ladies tried very hard to catch her and in the end had to tranquilise her so that she could be caught.  They asked Mada if she could help.  The galga was named Teresa after the ladies who found her (both called Teresa !).  They felt she had been hanged and managed to escape but because it had taken so long to catch her the wound around her neck had started to heal with the rope still inside.  The vet had to open up the wound and extract the rope.  With lots of love and care from Mada, and her team, Teresa started to get better, putting on weight and her lovely white coat began to shine again.  Her wound was healing and she was at last ready to be moved to Vic.  You can see from the photo here, taken by Wilfrid of Levriers en Detresse when he visited Vic recently, that Teresa is looking better and will soon be ready to start her new life in Belgium thanks to Josephine and Greyhounds Rescue Belgium .
