February/March transportationsThe early part of the year is the worst time for the abandonment of the galgos and many refuges throughout Spain are full and struggle to cope with the number of unwanted dogs they rescue. We try to help as many galgos as we can and have been busy organizing transportations from Vic, Albacete and Cadiz to Belgium, France, Italy and the UK. Josephine and her group, Greyhounds Rescue Belgium (GRB), have transported from Malaga five more galgos - Morgan, Malu, Castro, Cebrian and Lacio, originally from the Villamartin refuge in Cadiz. Catherine Madry of Levriers en Detresse transported twenty galgos for us, ten galgos were for homing in Belgium and Josephine and other members of GRB met up with Catherine in Calais to collect them. http://www.greyhoundsrescue.be/aan/a080316.html The other eight galgos are our new quarantine group. Balbino and Mateo met Elisa and other members of GACI in Nice to hand over another nineteen galgos for homing in Italy. http://www.adozionilevrieri.it/immagini/1marzo/1parte_a/index.html http://www.adozionilevrieri.it/immagini/1marzo/2parte_b/index.html http://www.adozionilevrieri.it/immagini/1marzo/3parte_c/index.html Wilfrid of Levriers en Difficulte went to Vic to collect Blanca, Jineta, Rambo, Tequila, Romantica and Sonrisa for homing in France and last weekend Kathi Backes of SOS Levriers went to Vic to collect Sacarina. More trips are being planned for next month and of course more galgos are already arriving to replace those leaving the kennels/refuges. Thanks to everyone for making all these transportations possible. Here are some of the photographs taken recently showing the dogs in transit and with their new owners.
