October / November Transportations

Transportations to Belgium, France, Germany and the UK took place over the last two months.

Paul of Noah's Arc, Murcia, kindly took Paloma, Paco, Basil, Danny, Fynn and Corrie to Alicante airport to meet Josephine of Greyhounds Rescue Belgium, ready for the flight back to Brussels and their new homes.

We were very grateful to Josephine and her volunteers for all their help with the transport of our new galgos for quarantine. GRB volunteers drove to Vic in their new fully fitted van to collect the galgos from Pep’ s kennels and then took them to Calais where the quarantine transport was there to meet them and take them to Precious Pets Quarantine Kennels, Newnham, Gloucestershire.

Steve and Paula say they are all settling in well at the kennels and already Pat, our Homing Officer, has been kept busy with enquiries about them. For more information, photos etc. please see our Quarantine Dogs.

Greyhounds Rescue Belgium also took 10 ex-racing greyhounds from England. We were pleased to be helping Cheryl Miller of Croft View Kennels find homes for these greyhounds with our contacts in Belgium. GIN covered their veterinary costs, necessary before they travelled to Belgium, and their transportation was arranged and funded by GIN and the RGT.

The groups in France have been busy too. Kathi from SOS Levriers when to Vic in November to collect Blanca and Jacqueline and Max of Association de Sauvetage des Levriers collected Lyra, Rony, Ladi, Luna, Ameto and Chiqui.

Nine galgos left Refugio Kimba in Cadiz at the end of November along with four galgos from Jane Garcia in Sevilla – all travelled to Germany with Carol and Colin of Pet Couriers and they will be homed by Diana Jork of Galgos in Not.

All these galgos will be settled in their new countries in time for Christmas and already more galgos have taken their place at the refuges and kennels in Spain.

As well as organizing the transports for the above we have been busy sending boxes of coats, medicines and Christmas treats to the refuges in Spain. We send these throughout the year – they are always needed and appreciated.
