Bill and Audrey, our
Membership Secretary,
had to say goodbye to
Miguel, their galgo, earlier
this year. Miguel was a
regular visitor to the GIN
office and he will be much
missed by us all.
We were very sorry to hear
that Suzie had to say
goodbye to lovely Trisi, her
galga from Spain. Trisi
featured on our GIN paper
and notelets over the years.

My dear Loretta was euthanased
on Friday 19th June 2009. She
died peacefully
in her own
basket in my
home. She was
13 years old.
Loretta was an
Irish bitch
exported to
Barcelona and
raced there
under the name Carmesi. She was well known there
apparently for always running wide of all the other
dogs. Having survived Spain, she was rescued and
transported to Belgium by Greyhounds Rescue
Belgium and adopted by an elderly couple there .
She stayed there for three years until her owners
themselves were taken into care. She was prepared
by Josephine under the Pet Passport Scheme for
adoption by me. My sister and I picked up her up
from Calais in October 2004.
It was an agonising decision to let her go, because,
as you see, she looks so beautiful, but you can just
see the vile tumour, a haemangiosarcoma on her
left shoulder , which developed very rapidly after a
minor skid on my patio while running to bark at
next door's dogs.... ..she was in so much pain that it
took a large cocktail of painkillers to help her
settle and the vet advised me that it was not going
to get any better and that we could and should
spare her any more hours of such agony.
She was a fantastic dog, probably the most
difficult I have known! Very spooky at first, noisy
and awkward to handle but as the years went on,
her courage , wonderful spirit and zest for living
showed through and upheld her to the last.I look to
her as a lesson to all of us on how to live!
